HAVE YOU GOT A DIGITAL CAMERA? WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP PRESERVE LIVERPOOL'S PAST FOR THE FUTURE?
Quite a number of memorials in Toxteth Park Cemetery are now in such a bad state of repair and so badly weathered they will be virtually illegible or even disappear within the next few years. action must be taken now and something must be done to preserve them, even if only on "film" or should I say memory card. Therefore I am desperate to set up, as soon as possible, a team of dedicated volunteers to help photograph these memorials before it is too late, and they are lost forever. No photographic skills are needed, just access to a digital camera, memory card and a few hours when convenient for you. Before the group initially starts, we can meet to discuss the allocation of a grave map section to each volunteer, then you can snap away. I will print each off each grave map section so no expense will be incurred by any volunteer. Once started there is no time pressure to finish photographing, it takes as long as it takes, you work at your own pace. Work alone, in pairs or in a team, it is what you feel you are comfortable with. The memorial photographs can be sent to me by email and full credit will be given to all volunteers. They will then be uploaded to our "Toxteth Park Cemetery" web site.
I know it is a monumental effort, but I feel if we can get the volunteers, we can easily do this and preserve Liverpool's heritage.
